Today is Left-Handed Awareness Day. A day where left-handed people around the world reflect on the struggles they face dealing with a world designed for right handed people. Sometimes referred to by the slang name “southpaws”, left-handed people make up 10% of the world’s populations and are much more likely to be men than women.
Nurses, midwives and healthcare assistants across the UK selflessly dedicate their lives to helping others every year. But who is there when they need help and support? Did you know that nursing professionals are twice as likely as the public to suffer financial hardship?Cavell Nurse's Trust was set up to support these professionals in their time of need with help, advice or financial aid. This October we will be joining a number of businesses raising money for Cavell Nurses Trust by climbing Snowdon.
Primarily serving the boroughs of Lambeth, Southwark, Lewisham and Bromley, King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is one of the largest and busiest teaching hospitals in London. They have a reputation for nationally and internationally recognised work in several fields including, neurosciences and foetal medicine. The staff bank has a big part to play in assisting the Trust with filling the gaps in shifts across all six hospitals.
There are several myths about working as a nurse that we hear time and time again. These misconceptions can lead to people not wanting to pursue it as a career because they develop certain beliefs about the type of work that is involved or the type of people that do the role.In honour of Friday 13th (a day steeped in superstition!) we are going to debunk some of the most common myths about working as a Nurse.
