International Nurses Day 2016

Today - International Nurses’ Day - celebrates the amazing work that nurses do around the world, so we at Bank partners wanted to say “thank you” for the amazing job you all do.

The celebration, which falls on May 12th every year, was chosen to coincide with the birthday of Florence Nightingale, the pioneer of modern nursing. She is most known as the lady with the lamp, compassionately nursing wounded soldiers during the Crimean War. While this is true, it was just a small part of her long and distinguished career which paved the way for modern nursing.

We believe each and every one of our nurses should be celebrated and we think Florence would agree. Bank workers take on extra shifts in order to support the NHS fill gaps in their workforce and maintain the high quality of care patients require. And we really appreciate it.

Today on International Nurses’ Day, we thank you for the hard work you do: taking on last-minute shifts when no one else will, moving between wards and sometimes between sites to fill vacancies and supporting the NHS reduce their costs.

So have a great International Nurses’ Day.
