Bank Band 2 Therapeutic Activities Assistant (Elderly Care) – Kettering General Hospital Foundation Trust

Bank KGH are looking for a dedicated Therapeutic Activities Assistant to work under the supervision of an Admiral Nurse & Ward Matron.  Being responsible for the implementation of planned social & recreational sessions & supporting caregivers, relatives and significant others in the delivery of therapeutic activities.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • To initiate, organise and work in collaboration with ward staff to identify a timetable of meaningful social and recreational activities (reminiscence, music therapy, arts and crafts, pamper sessions for example) for in-patients.
  • To liaise with ward staff to ensure that staff and patients are aware of the programme provided, and that patients are able to attend activities of their choice wherever possible.
  • To support and engage carers and relatives to be involved in meaningful social and recreational activities, when present.
  • To ensure that volunteers, caregivers, relatives and/or significant others are encouraged and supported to contribute to the activities programme.
  • communicate to appropriate members of staff daily, attend relevant ward reviews, handovers and team meetings regarding the participation of patients in social and recreational activities
  • To liaise with other Trust Services for example catering, housekeeping services and transport to ensure that all necessary services are in place for activity sessions.
  • To communicate and document patients’ progress and participation.

Qualifications, Skill and Experience

  • ESSENTIAL: Must have a minimum of 6 months NHS experience working as a Healthcare Assistant (working in an acute ward setting) or within a care/Residential
  • NVQ Level 2 – Health & Social Care
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Eligibility to work in the UK
