Band 6 - Senior Audiologist 

The Audiology Department are looking for a friendly and team focussed audiologist to support the provision of adult audiology services. You will be joining a diverse and friendly team of audiologists, admin and management, who are all focussed on providing the best possible service to our patients.

We are looking for an experienced Audiologist to help cover Maternity Leave.  We provide a comprehensive adult audiology service including GPDR, hearing aid fitting and maintenance, home visit services, and ENT support. Ideally, you will have an interest or specialist knowledge in advanced testing, tinnitus, balance or wax removal. We work four days a week which may suit clinicians looking to address work/life balance, prefer a varied working week or those looking for their next challenge.

Job summary

  • Candidate must have a BSc or PTP in Audiology, BAAT part I and II or equivalent, have experience commensurate with the position and be RCCP or HCPC registered
  • A high quality Audiology service is to be provided to the patients of the Trust
  • A professional approach to both patients and staff is maintained
  • BSA guidelines and professional protocols are adhered to
  • Undertake routine and occasionally complex clinical caseloads in Adult Audiology. This includes but is not limited to covering ENT clinics, GPDR patients and reassessments, hearing aid fittings with REM / HIT coupler verification, Follow Ups and Repairs
  • Undertake a range of clinical diagnostic & physiological tests
  • To record test results and to provide factual assessments & report findings
  • Demonstrate strong team working skills, good communication skills and the ability to use their initiative
  • Assist Heads of service with day to day running tasks where required
  • Additional tasks may be assigned once competencies have been satisfied
  • Be flexible in approach to role and responsibilities with the changing needs of the service especially, in the current health care climate

Clinical and operational responsibilities

  • Responsibilities for patient/client care, treatment and therapy
  • Advanced procedures are performed as appropriate to the grade
  • To effectively manage a diverse Adult diagnostic & rehabilitations caseload and tinnitus and/or balance diagnostic patients once competencies are demonstrated
  • Digital hearing aids are fitted to approved protocols including REM and HIT / coupler matching
  • Children’s hearing tests are carried out in the appropriate manner according to Best Practice standards (Over 3 years of age)
  • Recording test results and accurate record keeping across a range of digital and analogue media
  • May be required to visit patients in their house, GP Surgery, care home or hospital ward
  • Supervision of junior members of staff and students
  • Assistance is provided with the day to day running of the Audiology service.  This may include a special area of responsibility
  • Administrative responsibilities are undertaken as required by the Head of Audiology
  • To support the department in audits
  • Work to BAA / BSA / NICE professional guidelines
  • Technical knowledge and modern practice is updated
  • Mandatory and Statutory courses are kept up to the required timescales
  • Responsibilities for establishing and maintaining communication and relationship both internally and externally
  • There may be an aspect of lifting and carrying (such as stock) whilst executing various roles and responsibilities of the job

Important Requirements:

  • RCCP or HCPC Registration
  • 2 or more years Post Grad experience.
  • Proven experience in an audiology healthcare setting
  • Able to provide 3 years worth of references
  • Robust clinical knowledge, strong initiative, and an ability to remain calm and work efficiently under pressure
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Honesty and integrity, and a caring patient-centred approach
