Barts Health NHS Trust are searching for an experienced Band 6 or 7 Pharmacist in Aseptics to join their highly skilled team.

Job Purpose:
The aim of this post is to enable the post holder to gain an in-depth understanding of Technical Services and associated clinical areas. As a pharmacist you will be given training to become competent in the core duties within production and you will undertake developmental activities to enable you to gain skills, knowledge and experience in specialist technical activities.
The post holder will be:
Ø Responsible for ensuring good manufacturing practice, medicines legislation and agreed procedures are adhered to on a day-to-day basis.
Ø Professional Pharmacist support to Technical Service i.e. Chemotherapy, TPN, CIVAS and specials
Ø Clinical Pharmacy services to associated wards/clinical areas e.g nutrition, paediatrics and gastroenterology.
Ø Provide support for Quality Assurance Team – QMS and Good Manufacturing Practice
Ø Work with Lead aseptic Service pharmacist for the management and development of the service
Ø Training and supervision of rotational pharmacists and pre-registration pharmacists
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
· Assist the Senior Pharmacists in providing a safe and efficient service for all sites of Barts Health NHS trust and external customers.
· Provide professional and technical pharmacist support to all production areas including, Sterile Batch, Parenteral Nutrition, CIVAS, Chemotherapy and non-sterile specials.
· Provide information and advice to medical and nursing staff on the clinical and pharmaceutical aspects of drug therapy relating to these specialised areas.
· Works within operational parameters, always agreed standard procedures and systems of work thus ensuring a high level of GMP and patient safety is maintained.
· Ensure that all products are safely formulated and released for use in accordance with the department’s quality systems.
· Report all problems, unusual occurrences, and deviation to senior staff.
· Undertake a range of project activities associated with medicine preparation/administration and service developments linked to the above specialist areas. · Undertake teaching sessions to nursing, medical and pharmacy staff when required.
· Undertake appropriate personal continuing education and training in-order to acquire the necessary knowledge and skills, which will ensure a high level of competency in carrying out required tasks.
· Be professionally responsible for the direct clinical and pharmaceutical duties they undertake, with the section manager being responsible for the overall service for that given area.
· Proposes and assists in the implementation of procedural, clinical and technical advances in production and pharmacy chemotherapy service.
· Take part in production and chemotherapy weekend and bank holiday services and on-call service according to rota.
· Provide a clinical pharmacy service to paediatric, gastroenterology, cancer or general cover.
· Participates in data collections, audits, undertakes projects as required by the unit service lead.
Requirements:
· Master degree in Pharmacy Mpharm
· Specialist postgraduate Diploma in Pharmacy Practice or equivalent
· Member of General pharmaceutical council
· Experience in post registration hospital experience
· Experience in providing a clinical pharmacy service to wards
· Previous clinical paediatric or neonatal experience
· Proven experience of good performance in previous posts, where relevant
· Knowledge of Good manufacturing practice (GMP)
· Basic Pharmaceutical care needs of PN patients
· Practical knowledge of GMP and QA
· Demonstrated knowledge of principles and practises of aseptic/parenteral e.g. formulation, stability, administration, legal issues
· Knowledge of COSHH and health and safety at work
