We are Staffing Bank and we are seeking for a ST1-2 Doctor for our COE and Acute Medicine Department.
The post holder will provide treatment and care to patients across acute general medical beds and care of the elderly beds. The Care of the Elderly Service line has managerial responsibility for these posts.
The aim of the COE department is that each older person receives high quality, individualised, patient-centred, compassionate care in a specialist setting, in order to gain maximum benefit from their stay in hospital. Care will be sensitive to the needs of the older person, their family and carers, and will be delivered with dignity and respect.
The Trust Doctor will provide a range of duties as directed by the Consultant/Registrar. These will include:
Care of patients in acute general medical beds and care of the elderly beds.
Routine and acute post take ward rounds.
Updating family members on clinical progress / discharge planning.
Assessment of patients in the integrated acute assessment unit (AAU).
Multidisciplinary meetings with social workers, physiotherapists etc.
Prompt completion of discharge summaries and outpatient letters.
Audit and clinical governance activities
We have Trust grade jobs rotating on a 4 month basis through 3 of the following specialities; haematology, cardiology, gastroenterology / general medicine & geriatrics. The posts are not on the on call rota but have a 2 in 9 week weekend on call commitment (8.30am-9.30pm both Saturday and Sunday) & no night shifts.
The Trust Doctor may be required to perform duties in occasional emergencies and unforeseen circumstances at the request of the appropriate Consultant. Commitments arising in such circumstances are, however, exceptional and Trust Doctors should not be required to undertake work of this kind for prolonged periods or on a regular basis. In emergency situations the Trust doctor may be asked to provide additional on-call cover.
