Acute Assessment Unit

 

The Acute Assessment Unit (AAU) at Whipps Cross University Hospital is a busy 60 bedded medical admissions unit including 10 monitored beds. We see a wide range of complex acute conditions on the unit that include level 2 patients (NIV). We also staff an ambulatory care unit.

 

The ideal team player will have experience within an acute surgical or medical speciality and be able to manage a case of load patients within a high pressure / high turnover environment. They will possess excellent communication skills and utilise these in the provision of care for their patients, liaising with outside agencies and working closely with the multidisciplinary team. We welcome applicants who wish to challenge themselves further in their career. This is an excellent opportunity to rotate in the ambulatory care unit and also make a difference to the quality of care, patient safety and experience in a busy and friendly environment. You will obtain experience working in a large team who support the ED in ensuring timely access to emergency medical care.

 

You will receive support in preparation for your NMC OSCE, and will progress alongside a clear set of competences and objectives. This development will be supported by the areas Practice Development Nurse (PDN) who works exclusively in this area. There is a clear preceptorship programme and you can access a range of development and educational opportunities alongside our learning and development centre. There will also be opportunity to rotate into areas such as the ambulatory care unit as you progress – to widen your skills and knowledge.

All applicants will need to be a registered Nurse with NMC registration and six months relevant NHS experience.
