Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced and motivated Band 6 ITU Nurse to join our Critical Care team. The successful candidate will work within the multidisciplinary team to provide high-quality, evidence-based nursing care. You will be expected to comply with the NMC code of Professional Conduct and demonstrate knowledge of Trust policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop advanced skills and specialist practice in the ITU/HDU setting.
- Provide complex care to patients with minimal supervision.
- Plan, implement, and evaluate quality initiatives and clinical competencies.
- Maintain accurate patient records and information systems.
- Facilitate and support change within the unit.
- Participate in research and evidence-based practice.
- Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to meet patient needs.
- Act as a positive role model and mentor to junior staff and student nurses.
Educational and Professional Development:
- Assist in the development and organization of educational programs.
- Commit to continuous learning and professional development.
- Maintain a personal and professional portfolio.
- Provide mentorship and support to junior staff and student nurses.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Must have a valid, up to date registration with the NMC.
- Intensive Care modules (40 credits) incorporating assessment, intervention, and management of critically ill patients.
- Minimum of 12-18 months relevant Critical Care experience within the NHS.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- IT skills and experience with hospital databases.
