Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced and motivated Band 6 ITU Nurse to join our Critical Care team. The successful candidate will work within the multidisciplinary team to provide high-quality, evidence-based nursing care. You will be expected to comply with the NMC code of Professional Conduct and demonstrate knowledge of Trust policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop advanced skills and specialist practice in the ITU/HDU setting.
  • Provide complex care to patients with minimal supervision.
  • Plan, implement, and evaluate quality initiatives and clinical competencies.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and information systems.
  • Facilitate and support change within the unit.
  • Participate in research and evidence-based practice.
  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to meet patient needs.
  • Act as a positive role model and mentor to junior staff and student nurses.

Educational and Professional Development:

  • Assist in the development and organization of educational programs.
  • Commit to continuous learning and professional development.
  • Maintain a personal and professional portfolio.
  • Provide mentorship and support to junior staff and student nurses.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Must have a valid, up to date registration with the NMC.
  • Intensive Care modules (40 credits) incorporating assessment, intervention, and management of critically ill patients.
  • Minimum of 12-18 months relevant Critical Care experience within the NHS.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • IT skills and experience with hospital databases.
