Newham in Plaistow is a busy district hospital with innovative facilities such as its orthopaedic centre.

Newham require Band 8B Senior Nurse for specialist Medicine starting 1st May, this post will be full time for 3 months with the possibility of extending to 6 months.
The role of the Senior Nurse is predominantly concerned with ensuring the delivery of high standards of patient centered care whilst ensuring the cost-effective use of resources. It combines clinical expertise, leadership and educational/research skills with managerial and professional responsibilities. These standards will be delivered alongside a site based team of frontline ward managers working.
You will have the opportunity and support to drive through the changes that you feel will enhance the quality of care offered by our directorate teams. Therefore we are looking for a forward thinking and clinically competent Senior Nurse. This skill set will enable the post-holder to lead on the establishment of new safe and effective pathways of care for our patient population, both within the group of wards and also across all of our sites speciality services.
The post holder will have overall accountability for the day to day management of the nursing service across their area. They will also work as a highly specialised member of the inter-professional team to ensure that the needs of the patient are met at all times
The post holder will take ultimate responsibility for the standard of the environment within the wards, ensuring that patients comfort and nutritional needs are being met, that early mobilisation and re-enablement plans are being prioritised and also that staff maintain cleanliness as defined by national standards. Outstanding standards of nursing care will be delivered and overseen by the successful candidate. The post holder will be accessible and visible to staff, patients and visitors, ensuring that patients are treated with respect and dignity by our teams who are clinically competent to undertake their role.
