Job Summary:

To provide administrative support to senior staff within Pathology.
To organise meetings, draft agenda and take minutes as requested.
To undertake other administrative tasks as required.

• RSA III in typing/word processing or an equivalent IT qualification, eg ECDL
• Good general education including 5 GCSEs (grades A* to C) or equivalent, one of which should be English Language
• Shorthand/speedwriting qualification desirable

• Minimum of 3 years administrative/secretarial experience
• Extensive experience of minute taking
• Organisational and supervisory experience
• Experience of training staff
• Knowledge of medical terminology and NHS procedures desirable

Skills and Knowledge
• Proficient in MS Office, ie Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
• Strong interpersonal skills with excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to prioritise and manage constant and sometimes conflicting demands
• Strong customer service skills
• Evidence of ability to problem solve and work using own initiative, ensuring delivery
• Team player capable of working without close supervision
• An effective leader with ability to delegate and motivate others
• Responsive and flexible attitude
• Understand and adhere to the requirements of confidentiality
