Moorfields Eye Hospital NHS Foundation Trust are looking for a Band 2 Booking Centre Clerk to work at their City Road site working 37.5 hours per week between the hours of 8.30am-5pm.

JOB SUMMARY

 

To work in the booking centre to provide booking service to patients making outpatient appointment, registering referrals, agreeing appointments with patients and ensuring information is recorded accurately on the relevant systems.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  1. To register patients on the Patient Administration System

     

  2. To undertake booking of appointments in accordance with procedures, discussing with all patients a choice of date and time.

     

  3. To send follow up letters to patients and GP’s with in the partial booking system and make necessary action to make the appointment within the national chose and book system

     

  4. Receiving telephone calls within the indirectly booked system.

     

  5. To take follow up action from the choose and book worklists in accordance with procedures.

     

  6. To provide an efficient telephone service, at all times being courteous and helpful.

     

  7. To cancel and rebook patient appointments, following the guidelines issued by the relevant service.

     

  8. To cover communication from G.P. practices in respect to booking.

     

  9. To check all referral letters that are received in the Department. Ensure that the outpatient registration is entered on the Patient Administration System and the referral letter is forwarded to the relevant service within the agreed time frame.

     

  10. To ensure all urgent referrals are registered without delay and processed with in 24 hours of receipt.

     

  11. To ensure that the printers are suitably maintained and faults reported promptly.

     

  12. To assist with the distribution of stationery as required.

     

  13. To ensure that patients, visitors and staff are greeted courteously.

You will be required to have:

  • Good general education including English and maths at GCSE A-C or equivalent
  • Be computer literate
  • Have previous health-care clerical experience or experience working in a health-care environment
  • Have the ability to work effectively and harmoniously within the team structure
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • 6 months NHS experience desirable
