Assistant General Manager - UCLH - NW1 2BU

University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (UCLH) are looking for a dedicated and passionate Band 7 Assistant General Manager to join their highly skilled team in the Queen Square Division.

Queen Square Division comprises of the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery and the Royal London Hospital for Integrated Medicine, and is the largest division within the Specialist Hospitals Board.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • To assist in performance management of the departments within the Queen Square Division, alongside the respective external and internal performance targets.
  • Monitoring and reviewing demand / capacity within designated service areas.
  • To liaise with external providers and partners in achieving excellent working relationships.
  • To be responsible for reviewing and improving patient pathways as required for designated specialities.
  • To act as lead for data quality issues for the department.
  • To oversee EPIC/IT issues for the directorate and escalate to the General Manager as necessary.
  • To support the Trust’s clinical governance strategy through administration and regular contribution to clinical governance meetings, swift response to complaints, regular analysis and review of adverse incidents, risk management and the facilitation of a programme of integrated care pathways.
  • To line manage a team of staff taking responsibility for all aspects of staff development and appraisal.
  • In collaboration with the General Manager, lead on recruitment, selection, induction and retention of staff, ensuring compliance with Equal Opportunities and Trust procedures.
  • Ensuring all staff are kept informed of relevant Divisional and Trust wide issues.

Requirements:

  • Degree or equivalent professional qualification.
  • Recognised management qualification/or working towards.
  • Experience of operational management in a healthcare setting Experience of successfully managing a team.
  • To clearly demonstrate leadership and ability to motivate and empower others.
  • Budgetary management experience.
  • Experience of working within neurosciences, Stroke, Private Patients, SRS/Gamma Knife services.
  • Ability to influence clinicians and managers for service improvement.
