St Bartholomew’s Hospital (SBH), part of Barts Health NHS Trust, will celebrate its 900th anniversary in 2023 following its founding with the Priory of St Bartholomew the Great in 1123. Barts Health NHS Trust is working in partnership with organisations on the Barts900 campaign to deliver a range of celebratory events that will ensure this significant milestone is commemorated in a fitting and memorable way throughout the anniversary year.

Job Summary

The post holder will be responsible for planning, organising and delivering a number of celebratory events related to the 900th anniversary, reporting to the Strategic Projects lead for the Barts900 campaign and also working in close collaboration with the Head of Communications for SBH and the Trust’s Corporate Events manager. The events will include celebratory events for the Trust’s staff and volunteers and a number of external events including the Barts900 entry in the 2022 Lord Mayor’s Show.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively with staff and volunteers within SBH and the wider Trust to design and develop celebratory 900th events for staff and volunteers
  • Manage and deliver celebratory 900th events for staff and volunteers
  • Work closely with leads on other Trust sites regarding celebrations for the NHS 75th, 900th and Newham Hospital’s 40th anniversary in 2023
  • Work collaboratively with external partners on the development and delivery of specific l celebratory 900th events
  • Communicate accurately and diplomatically with a range of internal and external stakeholders and partners
  • Plan each event including the development of a project plan and monitoring progress against agreed objectives and timeframes

Role Requirements

  • extensive experience of planning, managing and delivering small and large in-person events, as well as post-event follow-up, working as part of a team and autonomously in a busy environment with changing priorities and conflicting deadlines
  • experience of planning and delivering virtual events
  • significant experience of drafting, reviewing and editing a variety of written communication materials
  • experience of working with a range of internal and external stakeholders and organisations, including at Board level
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Significant experience of using a wide range of advanced and complex IT office systems including Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint and the ability to quickly learn new IT systems/databases and packages
  • Demonstrable experience of maintaining confidentiality and a high level of discretion and sensitivity
  • A high level of attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
