Job Purpose

To provide quality evidence based care under the supervision of medical consultants and qualified Orthoptists in the Eye Department, within the limits of the post holder’s knowledge base.  To work effectively as part of the multi-disciplinary / multi professional team. The post holder will be responsible for assisting the clinical team in an out-patient setting, working independently but as an integral part of the team.

What are your Responsibilities?

  • To be responsible for assessing the suitability of the room for use by the team, the preparation of the room and tidying up following clinical sessions.
  • To ensure all equipment is available and maintained in a clean and satisfactory state for use.
  • To ensure all stationery is suitable and available for use.
  • To test and record visual acuity.
  • To explain the process of visual field testing to the patient to prepare them for the test.
