HSDU Technician - Portsmouth

Job Purpose

  1. To undertake medical device decontamination duties and contribute to the delivery of a specialised decontamination service contributing to the clinical care of patients.
  2. To carry out collection, receipt, disassembly, cleaning, reassembly, inspection, packing, sterilisation and distribution of reusable medical devices in accordance with departmental procedures.

 

 QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Essential

  • Literate and numerate
  • Evidence of working in a large team.
  • Evidence of working in a quality led production environment or similar

     

    Desirable

  • Decontamination related qualification
  • Experience of healthcare/HSDU/Sterile Services work

     

    SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

    Essential

  • Evidence of manual skills/dexterity
  • Good customer service skills.
  • Ability to use machinery
  • Ability to follow documented work instructions/procedures

     

    Desirable

  • Some knowledge of the type of work to be undertaken.
  • Knowledge of instruments across a range of surgical/medical specialties
  • ICT skills
