COVID-19 Medical Doctor (ST3 equivalent) - North Middlesex University Hospital

 

Our Client, North Middlesex University Hospital are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic junior doctor to assist the Trust and Enfield borough in their COVID-19 response.

The doctor will work under the direct supervision of Medical Microbiology and Infection Prevention and Control. Direct patient contact is not required however a willingness on occasion to interact in-person with suspected or confirmed COVID-19 patients whilst using appropriate PPE and after suitable fit-testing would be a bonus.

The role includes coordination with the 111 response desk, telephone patient triaging and onward referral to COVID testing pathways, including organising testing in the community, A&E or POD systems.  Good organisation skills are essential as the doctor will coordinate community and hospital testing, results authorisation and phoning of results to the public. As the role develops, and according to competency, the doctor will have the opportunity to become involved with pathway and SOP development, patient information leaflets, audit, and education and training across the Trust.

This is a fluid role which will require initiative and an ability to adapt to an ever-changing scenario.  In addition and on occasion the doctor may be asked to assist with general microbiology / Infection cases after sufficient training and in accordance with  the needs of the department.  As this role requires a significant period of induction and training, we are looking for doctors who are able to commit to multiple days per week for periods up to one month at a time.  Week day hours are 9-5pm. The doctor would also be expected to contribute to an on-call weekend rota 9-7pm at least once per month. Full training and supervision will be provided.
