Job Summary:
This is a vacant post for a Consultant Physician in Stroke Medicine to join our Joint Stroke Service. Bringing robust professional experience and skills, the postholder will complement the existing team of Stroke Physicians and an enthusiastic and committed wider multi-disciplinary team. Although the successful candidate will be employed by Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust and principally based at the Queen Alexandra Hospital, they will share their time with St Mary’s Hospital, in Newport serving the local community and a total population of approximately 800,000 people.
Key responsibilities:
The Consultant Physician in Stroke Medicine will be responsible for the management of Stroke patients along our care pathways. They will be part of a team of Stroke Consultants (some of whom are currently locum) undertaking a mixture of outpatient clinics, trans-ischaemic clinics and managing hyper acute and acute Stroke patients. They will be required to contribute to a 1 in 7 on-call rota.
Essential Requirements:
- Entry on the GMC specialist register for General Internal Medicine, Stroke or Geriatrics via (a) CCT (proposed CCT date must be within 6 months of interview), (b) CESR or (c) European Community rights”
- Full GMC Registration with a License to Practice
- Relevant training in Stroke Medicine and Hyper acute Stroke Care
- Right to work in the UK and Full GMC Registration
- A minimum of 6-months experience working within the NHS
