This is a large busy department offering a broad range of experience in all areas of ENT practice. There are well-developed subspecialist interests in Head and Neck Surgery, Otology, Paediatric ENT, Rhinology and Audiological Medicine.
All the consultants have a specified subspecialty interest. Opportunities are there for exposure to a wide spectrum of ENT conditions and surgery.
Although this post is not approved for postgraduate training the duties are the same as the existing FY2 and CST training posts. The successful candidate will be assigned a consultant clinical supervisor and will be encouraged to maintain an educational portfolio with appropriate assessments to their level of experience. There are regular departmental lunchtime teaching sessions which are open to all medical staff to attend. There are also a wide range of opportunities to participate in clinical audit and improvement projects. This role is required to do on call weekends as well FT Monday – Friday.
As an experienced ENT SHO you will ideally have:
- Full GMC registration with a licence to practice
- Primary medical qualification recognised by the GMC
- Evidence of completion of Foundation Level or Equivalent 2 year training programme
- Demonstrable skills and experience of General Surgery or ENT
- UK experience desirable
