Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust is seeking an enthusiastic and flexible Consultant Geriatrician to join our extremely committed and expanding team.  Successful applicants can expect responsibilities in acute Geriatric Medicine. 

The Older Person’s Medicine service sits alongside Stroke Medicine, Specialist Rehabilitation and Palliative Care Medicine with the OPM care group.  Our care group sits within the wider division of Medicine and Urgent Care.

The post holder will be a Consultant Geriatrician with a specialist interest in the management of complex frail elderly patients in acute settings.  They will have responsibility for acute inpatient care on a ward at QAH supported by a multidisciplinary team; they will work in tandem with a “buddy” consultant within each ward area.  They will participate in the Frailty Interface Team, working in the emergency corridor providing early assessments of patients requiring unscheduled care. Work may also include actively managing patients on our new Frailty Short Stay Unit. 

As an experienced Consultant Geriatrician, you will ideally have:

-          Full GMC registration with a licence to practice

-          Higher professional training in Geriatric Medicine

-          Membership of Royal College of Physicians

-          MB BS or equivalent
