Queen Alexandra Hospital have an exciting opportunity for an Histopathologist Consultant. The department performs specialist reporting of all major cancer resections which includes a wide range of complex and routine specimens, with the remainder of work allocated via a general ‘pool’ system.
The successful candidate will participate in a monthly rota of specialist surgical dissection and reporting and also provide cover for frozen section reporting on a rotational basis. The successful candidate will also participate in the reporting of general cases from the ‘pool’. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop specialist interests that compliment those already existing within the department. Cellular Pathology has a molecular laboratory, which aspires to bring new molecular testing within the department
This an exciting opportunity to further develop core skills and consolidate previous experiences gained, working at one of the largest acute hospital trust in the country. You will be working in a challenging area amongst a large multidisciplinary team with the support of senior staff delivering care to a high standard.
- Full and specialist registration (and a licence to practise) with the General Medical Council (GMC) (or be eligible for registration within six months of interview)
- MBBS, MBChB or equivalent
- FRCPath or show evidence of equivalent
- Applicants that are UK trained must ALSO be a holder of a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT), or be within six months of award of CCT by date of interview
