Specialist Rotational Occupational Therapist - Band 6 - UCLH - London

University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust are searching for an experienced and enthusiastic Specialist Rotational Occupational Therapist to join their highly motivated and skilled team.

Job Summary

This is a rotational post, aimed at consolidating knowledge and experience across acute rotations at University College Hospital, University College Hospital Grafton Way Building and the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery. The role provides high quality patient assessment and treatment as part the specialist therapy team on each rotation.

Job Purpose

  • Provide specialist occupational therapy for a wide range of patients requiring
  • assessment and rehabilitation in acute inpatient and outpatient environments.
  • To provide specialist advice and information to patients, carers, and other professionals.
  • To perform manual handling tasks such as the hoisting and/or transfer of patients, fitting and delivery of appropriate equipment,
  • To participate in evidence-based audit and service development projects relevant to the area of speciality will be carried out in conjunction with the Senior Therapists (OT/PT) to ensure high standards of care & service development are maintained and improved upon.
  • To participate in the senior rotational scheme within the following ward settings including:
  • Emergency Medicine including the Emergency Department, Same Day Emergency Care Unit, Acute Medical Unit and Enhanced Care Unit
  • Stroke (Acute Stroke Unit/ Hyper Acute Stroke Unit)
  • Elderly Medicine
  • Respiratory Medicine and Infectious diseases
  • Internal medicine
  • Oncology
  • Haematology
  • Surgery including Thoracic, Urology, Gastro and Gynaecology and Emergency surgery.
  • Orthopaedics both Elective and Trauma
  • Teenage Cancer Unit
  • Outpatient Proton Beam Therapy

Requirements

  • Degree/diploma in Occupational Therapy
  • HPC registration in Occupational Therapy
  • Comprehensive knowledge of equipment provision
  • Excellent written/spoken English
  • Appreciation of current developments in Health Care provision
  • Significant post graduate work experience in a physical field, including a period working in the NHS
  • Experience of working as a member of an MDT
  • Experience of working in an acute setting as a qualified occupational therapist
  • Experience in 2 or more of the following areas: general medicine, emergency medicine, elderly medicine, orthopaedics, surgery, neurology, oncology, and haematology
