Welcome to the GOSH Staff Bank

A big welcome to the GOSH Nursing & HCA Staff Bank. As a new joiner, we’re very grateful to have you on board.

At Bank Partners, our aim is to make sure that it’s easy for you to work flexible shifts in a supportive, professional environment. We’ve included below some key information that you might find useful as you start your journey with us.

Booking and working shifts

Booking shifts

Your consultant will have already advised that you have access to view and self-book shifts via the Trust’s chosen booking platform Health Roster EOL, and logins will be sent to you shortly.

If you would prefer to call us to book your shifts or submit your availability, you can do so by calling the team on 0207 959 3567, option 1, option 1.

Please be aware you do not need to submit timesheets for shifts worked through Healthroster unless you have worked under or over the booked hours. Otherwise, this will be actioned/authorised by managers by Midnight on Tuesday.

Induction

You will be paid for your Trust Induction once you have completed 37.5 Hours on top of your Supernumerary shift. This will be paid at one band lower than you are on Bank as, as the Trust Induction is not considered clinical. This would have been agreed upon prior to interview via the pre-screen process. Bank Partners will run a weekly timesheet hour report and once you have completed the minimum, we will add the shifts onto EOL and finalise so you are paid. Due to the busyness of Mondays, these hours may be paid in the following weeks payroll.

It is important to notify the Bookings Team as soon as possible so they can make the necessary adjustments to the schedule and attempt to find a suitable replacement. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in following this guideline.

Flexibility when working

As with all NHS Staff Banks, you may be asked by the Trust to work in a different setting on occasions to the one which you have booked. This will always be with patient safety in mind, and we appreciate your flexibility and understanding.

Stay within the 48-hour weekly limit

To protect your wellbeing and stay compliant with the Working Time Directive, please ensure your total working hours average no more than 48 hours per week over any Monday–Sunday period, typically calculated across a 17-week reference period.

Student Nurses employed as HCA’s ONLY

It is Trust process that a Student Nurse can only work as an HCA whilst they are in their final year of study and up to the point of obtaining their NMC registration. Every year we will receive a list of Newly Qualified Nurses joining the Trust, and if you have been successful at securing a job at GOSH, we will make the changes to your profile when appropriate. You must not continue to work shifts as an HCA if you have obtained your NMC registration, if you find you have the ability to do so on EOL, please contact us asap.

As you will be a newly qualified nurse at this point, you will need to complete a minimum of 6months of work before we can add you back on the Bank as an RN. This is usually when you have passed your probation with your ward.

Charge information

Please note that future DBS applications, additional uniform requests, and copies of training certificates are subject to a charge. For any support or information about these charges, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Pension

For Bank Partners pensions queries (once you have been auto-enrolled) please contact The People Pensions – 0300 200 0555. You will need to say that you are paid via Pulse Healthcare and supply your payroll number. If you have an NHS pension, then please contact 0300 330 1346.

Joining GOSH permanently?

Got a job at GOSH while on the Bank? Amazing news! However, as your contract will then be held with the Trust, we need you to complete the Substantive application form as soon as you have joined so we can change your compliance requirements over. If we don’t receive this notice, we will continue to chase compliance and mark you unavailable if it ever lapses, and if you don’t work in 6 months we may archive you, and as a Substantive member of staff you would be exempt from that!
