Great Ormond Street Hospital, known as GOSH, is one of the world’s leading children’s hospitals and an international centre of excellence in child healthcare. Since its formation in 1852, the hospital has been dedicated to children’s healthcare and to finding new and better ways to treat childhood illnesses.
GOSH opened on 14 February 1852 as The Hospital for Sick Children and was the first hospital in the UK to provide dedicated inpatient care for children. Today, it has grown into a specialist paediatric hospital supporting children and young people with rare and complex conditions.
The hospital provides over 60 specialist and subspecialist paediatric health services, the widest range of any single site in the UK. It is also the UK’s largest paediatric centre for many services, including heart problems, brain surgery and gene therapy.
