University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (UCLH) are searching for an experienced Scrub Nurse in Urology to join their highly skilled team at West Moorland Street.

University College Hospital at Westmoreland Street, named The Heart Hospital until refurbished and renamed in 2015, was a specialist cardiac hospital located in London, United Kingdom until 2015.

The Role:

To work according to the NMC Code of Professional Conduct and relevant professional guidelines as a named nurse (or key worker) for a defined group of patients and take responsibility for:

  • protecting and supporting the health of individual patients and clients
  • the assessment of care and health education needs
  • To deliver care to patients during the perioperative period, including anaesthetic, intraoperative (scrub & circulating) and post – operative recovery
  • To be designated to take charge of the theatre/department regularly in the absence of the person holding continuing responsibility
  • To work in accordance with UCLH Nursing and Midwifery Strategy and Core Standards and contribute towards achieving the Trust’s “Top 10” Objectives
  • To maintain effective communication
  • To provide a high standard of holistic patient-centred care
  • To act as a facilitator/mentor/preceptor to student nurses and others and participate in clinical supervision programmes as appropriate

Requirements:

Registered Nurse Part 1, 2 or relevant section of the register

Registered ODP with Dip HE, NVQ 3, or City & Guilds 752

Accredited qualification in Anaes/Theatres/Recovery

Previous experience at Band 5

Previous experience in Anaes/Theatres/Recovery

Demonstrates awareness of the importance of working as part of a multi disciplinary team

Communicates effectively verbally, in writing and in electronic formats
