Band 6 – Senior Pediatric Nurse – GOSH – London

Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Foundation Trust (GOSH) are searching for an experienced and passionate Band 6 Senior Staff Nurse to join their highly skilled and motivated team.

The Role:

As a Band 6 Staff Nurse, you’ll provide expert, compassionate and child-centred care to children and young people with a wide range of clinical needs. You’ll take an active role in leading and coordinating care, supporting colleagues, and working in partnership with children and families. You’ll be encouraged to be curious, show respect and collaborate, using your experience to make a positive difference to the care and experience of every child.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

• To initiate an agreed range of diagnostic tests within the team’s clinical guidelines/care plan.
• To refer to other disciplines/professions when required.
• To support patients to self-manage, monitor their condition and make informed choices – shared decision making.
• To act as a named nurse for designated patients within the service.
• To ensure that nursing documentation is maintained to required standards and to be a competent user of and participate in the ongoing development of the Trust’s planned Electronic Patient Record.
• To promote the development of evidence-based practice.
• To participate in clinical supervision to an agreed standard.
• To ensure high standards of care are given to all patients.
• To advise patients on the promotion of health and the prevention of illness.
• To be responsible for gaining intravenous access and administration of prescribed medication for patients requiring intravenous medication and for monitoring their care.
• To collaborate with medical colleagues in ensuring that appropriate investigations and procedures are performed to complete the patients’ treatments and that patient and their families are fully informed and understand the purpose for these.

Requirements:

• Current NMC Registration
• 6 months of RGN experience at the NHS within the last 3 years
• BSc or equivalent level of experience
• Ability to motivate staff
• Ability to demonstrate awareness of need for effective teamwork
• Ability to demonstrate personal management skills
• Excellent time management
• Computer literate
