Moorfields Eye Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is a globally recognised centre of excellence in eye health services. The founding hospital based in the London has a history of over 200 years treating and pioneering treatments for conditions affecting the eye. In more recent years, Moorfields have further developed their services by opening an in house 'Moorfields Pharmaceuticals' as a specialist manufacturer. The Trust has also expanded its services to provide the expert care in community based satellite sites throughout and around London. The Trust is also a founding member of UCL Partners, which is the first academic health science centre in the UK, and which in 2013 became accredited as an academic health science network.
