Main Duties and Responsibilities:

The post holder will be required to work as a Senior Clinical Research Fellow taking responsibility for the coordination and support of research studies and other relevant clinical trials with a focus on community research.

They will additionally support clinical research activities. There will also be an opportunity to work collaboratively on clinical research projects with local Universities and other trusts.

The primary role of the post holder is to undertake medical duties in line with the highest safety standards for study participants and in compliance with Ethical and Good Clinical Practice principles and regulatory standards.

The post holder will be delivering day-to day research – i.e., following the protocol, assessing suitability, obtaining consent for research and any other related and appropriate activities.

  • To be a strong visible clinical leader, enhancing and supporting the clinicians’ skills and knowledge of all clinical staff and promote a culture which promotes practice excellence. The post holder will work with the Associate Director of Research, as a member of the Senior Management Team alongside the Head of Research, Operations Lead for Research and Delivery Lead for Research.
  • The postholder will lead and support associated workstreams focused on the Trust’s developing clinical academic agenda, collaboration and partnerships, and contribute to the development of emerging clinical academic fellows and other elements of the workforce within the research capacity-building programme.
  • The postholder will lead and contribute to key workstreams that advance the Trust’s agenda in strengthening research and digital innovation, including cross-organisational partnerships and collaboration with academic institutions.
  • Deputising for the Associate Director of Research where necessary on defined workstreams
  • Will provide senior leadership across defined programmes of work and will deputise for the Associate Director of Research when required, ensuring continuity of strategic oversight and decision-making as appropriate.

Requirements:

  • Full registration and a Licence to Practice with the General Medical Council
  • Shall have completed at least four years’ full-time postgraduate training (or its equivalent gained on a part-time or flexible basis); or shall have equivalent experience and competencies.
  • Experience working in an NHS environment
  • Clinical Research Experience in acute and community setting
  • Demonstratable leadership of research as PI and medical support for clinical research studies.
  • Able to communicate at a strategic and operational level
  • Record of involvement in leadership roles during their career
  • Demonstrable strong project management skills
  • Demonstrable ability to build relationships with a variety of stakeholders and stakeholder management.
