Band 5 - Biomedical Scientist Kingston - London

Kingston Hospital are searching for a passionate and experienced Band 5 Biomedical Scientist to join their highly skilled Cardiology team.

Kingston Hospital is an acute NHS hospital located in the leafy borough of Kingston upon Thames, South West London, England. It is managed by the Kingston Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. Job Summary:

The post holder will work as a registered Biomedical Scientist and member of the Cellular Pathology team providing data and specialist scientific and technical services used for the diagnosis and treatment of patients. 

Where appropriate the post holder will work under the guidance of more experienced staff in undertaking the pre analytical, analytical and post analytical tasks in all sections of the department and assist senior staff in the ongoing training of less experienced, newly Qualified and Trainee Biomedical Scientists and other staff as required.

The post holder will be expected to work within the Quality Management System established to ensure the effective delivery of a high-quality service that meets the needs and requirements of all users and required to maintain continuing accreditation with UKAS ISO 15189 standards and continuing compliance with other statutory and non-statutory inspection bodies.   

Requirements:

BSc (Hons) in Biomedical Sciences or equivalent.

Registration with Health Care Professions Council (HCPC)

Basic Science Skills from School and University.

Trained in a recognised diagnostic pathology laboratory (IBMS registered, or UKAS ISO accredited)

Working within a team.

Wide range of analytical procedures including microtomy, embedding, special stains.

Use of “state of the art” instrumentation.

QA procedure to ensure high quality of stained slides.
