Band 7 - Therapist - Barts - London

Barts Health NHS Trust are searching for an experienced Band 7 Surgical Therapist to join their highly skilled team.

  1. Job Purpose:

To provide clinical leadership across the RLH Surgical & Vascular pathway.

  • Undertake a Physiotherapy or Occupational Therapy role, planning, co-ordinating, delivering, and evaluating the physiotherapy/occupational therapy service provided for patients across Surgical & Vascular Pathway.
  • To take a lead role in the assessment, treatment, and management of complex patients including those who have had surgeries under the specialities of general surgery, elective orthopaedics, gynae-oncology, neuro-surgery, neuro-oncology, trauma and vascular. The role includes occasional cross cover onto the Vascular ward with patients who have had major amputations.
  • To communicate effectively with other health care professionals, social services, and outside particularly regarding patient care, progress, and planning of rehabilitation and/or discharge needs.

Requirements:

  • Degree/Equivalent in Physiotherapy
  • HCPC registered
  • Experience in managing patients with surgical, orthopaedic, respiratory, neuro/gyane oncology and neurological operations/conditions
  • Experience of staff supervision
  • Experience in leading a team
  • Evidence of CPD maintained in a portfolio including attendance at post graduate courses/training relevant to specialty
  • Ability to assess, treat and appropriately discharge patients who have experience surgery for a wide range of conditions, including those with complex presentations, demonstrating evidence based practice (EBP)
  • Ability to work autonomously, prioritise, organise and delegate a caseload of complex patients for self and wider team
  • Ability to identify patients deteriorating function and take appropriate action
  • Ability to work in and lead a multi-disciplinary team
