Band 4 - MLA Point of Care Testing Associate Practitioner - Barts - London

St Bartholomew's Hospital (Barts) are searching for a Band 4 Medical Lab Assistant/Point of Care Testing Associate Practitioner to join their highly skilled team.

Our group of hospitals provide a huge range of clinical services to people in east London and beyond.

We operate from four major hospital sites (The Royal London, St Bartholomew’s, Whipps Cross and Newham) and a number of community locations, including Mile End hospital. Around 2.5 million people living in east London look to our services to provide them with the healthcare they need.

The Role:

Previous experience in a pathology or point‑of‑care testing (POCT) environment is desirable but not essential.

The role involves working across both the Pathology POCT service and clinical areas, and requires the ability to:

  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and provide technical support for POCT equipment.
  • Manage reagent supplies and ensure accurate completion of associated documentation.
  • Work effectively with clinical teams to promote safe and efficient POCT practice.
  • Perform internal quality control and administer external quality assessment schemes.
  • Train clinical staff in the correct and safe use of POCT equipment.
  • Enter, update, and maintain data within the POCT data management system, including issuing barcodes.
  • Move between multiple clinical areas throughout the day, which involves a significant amount of walking.
