We are seeking an experienced Fire Safety Awareness Trainer to provide short-term cover from September within the Workforce Directorate at UCLH. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified fire safety professional with strong teaching and training experience to make an immediate impact within a leading NHS organisation.
The role is offered on a part-time basis (2 days per week) for an initial period of one month, with the potential to extend to up to three months, depending on service requirements.
About The Role:
This role has a significant teaching and training focus and would suit an individual who is passionate about education, learner engagement and developing staff competence in fire safety.
As the Trust's specialist Fire Safety Awareness Trainer, you will design and deliver high-quality practical fire safety training to a wide range of staff groups, students and partner organisations. You will help ensure compliance with fire safety legislation, Health Technical Memoranda (HTMs) and Trust policies while supporting a culture of safety across the organisation.
Key responsibilities include:
- Delivering practical fire safety awareness sessions, fire warden training and fire evacuation equipment training.
- Providing engaging classroom-based and practical teaching to multi-disciplinary healthcare audiences.
- Supporting fire drills and evacuation exercises.
- Reviewing and evaluating training effectiveness and learner outcomes.
- Working closely with the Fire Safety Team and Education Services to maintain high training standards.
- Delivering training across multiple Trust sites as required.
Requirements:
- A recognised qualification in fire safety or a related discipline (e.g. NEBOSH Fire Safety).
- A recognised teaching or adult education qualification.
- Demonstrable experience designing and delivering practical fire safety training programmes.
- Excellent presentation, facilitation and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Strong knowledge of fire safety legislation, including the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order and relevant HTMs.
- Experience of teaching and engaging groups of learners in a practical environment.
- Healthcare and NHS experience would be advantageous but is not essential.
