Neonatal Transfer Service Bank Nurse Advert

We are seeking experienced Senior Neonatal Sisters and Charge nurses to join the Barts Health Staff Bank to work alongside the Neonatal Transfer Service for London.

Neonatal Transfer Service (NTS) London commenced its operations in October 2003. Our service is funded by the NHS England Specialist Commissioning Board and the team are based at the Royal London in Whitechapel. The remit of the team is to provide stabilisation and transport for any neonate requiring emergency transfer into or out of a London neonatal unit. The team works closely with the transfer services for Kent, Surrey, Sussex and the East of England as well as with CATS (Children’s Acute Transfer Service) and the South Thames Paediatric Retrieval Service based at St Thomas’ Hospital. 

The team consists of 3 Neonatal Consultants, a Neonatal Transport Lead Nurse, a service   manager, an office manager, and 2 admin staff, 11 Band 7 nurses, 9 WTE Neonatal Speciality Trainees / Clinical Fellows / ANNPS, 8 EAC on secondment from The London Ambulance Service and 2 St John technicians.

With these staff the service provides two 7 day 24 hour emergency team and a 10.00 to 22.00 twilight emergency team. The nurse lead elective service runs Monday to Friday 08.00-19.00.

Full inductions are given, with competencies designed for the transport setting.

 NTS London is hosted within Barts Health NHS trust. This is the largest NHS Trust in the UK, with one of the largest acute and community children’s practices based at The Royal London, Newham University and Whipps Cross Hospitals.

Qualifications, Skill and Experience

  • Registered Nurse with NMC registration
  • Senior Band 6 and Band 7
  • At least 12 months experience working in a Neonatal tertiary level unit
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
  • Up to date Neonatal Training
