Would you like to work at our Darent Valley Hospital satellite site? We have a full-time bank post for a health care assistant who would like to further develop their skills working in an ophthalmic unit.
Moorfields at Darent Valley Hospital offers a comprehensive service which includes outpatients: nurse led pre-assessment, cataract, vitreo-retinal, glaucoma clinics and a medical retina clinic supported by a nurse led AMD injecting service and a surgical day care unit. We are looking for a health care assistant to join our busy and highly skilled team to provide a holistic approach to ophthalmic care. The day care department requires staff to start at 7am.
You must be caring, professional, and reliable and demonstrate team working to ensure a safe and positive patient experience. For the post the candidate must have health care experience, ideally with previous ophthalmic experience or express an interest and are motivated in developing knowledge and skills within the fields of ophthalmology.
Your role involves supporting patients while they attend the unit for surgery and/or an outpatient appointment which involves diagnostic testing. You need to be competent with inputting data, conducting visual fields test, OCTs, patient observations, measuring intraocular pressure using non-contact techniques and vision testing using logmar and Snellen charts.
You will need to able to work independently after a period of training, Development and training opportunities available.
What we look for in our bank workers:
Must have a minimum of 6 months post registration experience within an acute healthcare setting/NHS
Proven experience working in a ophthalmology
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
