University College London Hospital are currently looking to appoint a experienced Band 8 Occupational Health Manager. 

The purpose of this job is to provide senior clinical leadership and management of the Occupational Health Service and support to the Deputy Director of Workforce in relation to UCLH’s strategic agenda to be an employer of choice and to improve staff experience.

What we are looking for:

Knowledge & Qualification

  • Registered NMC
  • Specialist OH Nurse on Part 3 of the NMC resister
  • Expert knowledge of current policy and practice for occupational health
  • Completion of appropriate management /leadership qualification
  • Highly developed knowledge of employment law with a focus on health & safety and the management of occupational health records
  • Evidence of continuing professional development including regular attendance on internal and external study programmes
  • In depth understanding of Occupational Health nursing practice and NMC Revalidation requirements
  • In depth knowledge of Occupational Health nursing quality, clinical audit and clinical governance within the NHS

Experience

  • Experience of being able to balance competing priorities and meet personal and Trust targets within a fluctuating and demanding workload
  • A strong understanding of multidisciplinary issues and commitment to multidisciplinary working
  • Budget management experience

Skills & Abilities

  • Able to present information to a wide audience including very senior colleagues in a compelling, clear and concise way
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills, demonstrating an ability to build relations and influence at a senior level and with external stakeholders
  • Highly developed communication skills, ranging from informal 1:1 discussions, formal presentations, and written reports including data analysis covering both oral and written skills
  • Strong strategic influencing, persuading, coaching and negotiating skills
  • Quality focussed with an innovative, flexible approach and the ability to solve complex problems and identify sustainable improvements / solutions
  • Advanced analytical and judgement skills which require management of complex facts and problems
  • Sound IT skills (Microsoft Office, Word), experience of manipulating HR databases
  • Ability to respond to urgent situations in a calm, empathetic and logical manager and manage stressful situations
  • Ability to think and plan strategically, tactically and creatively and to prioritise work programmes in the face of competing demands
  • Ability to act as an intelligent customer of  corporate services and to use sound judgment to assess when improvements are required
  • Strong ability to manage a team including the further development of those who are capable and to support and manage those who are under-performing
  • Ability to assess electronic needs of the service and ensure safe and effective use of systems in line with information governance requirements
  • Highly competent in use of email, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook Calendar and electronic records database entry
