Would you like to work in a team steering the communications for a hospital offering world class eye care services?
Founded in 1805, Moorfields is the largest specialist eye hospital in the UK and one of the largest in the world. It treats more patients than any other eye hospital or clinic in the country.
This is a role in our busy team, reporting to the external senior communications manager and working with the communications team to define and lead the external profile of the organisation, enhancing and maintaining its significant reputation.
You will help deliver an ambitious communications programme designed to support the trust following the launch of its new organisational strategy and will have unprecedented opportunities to enhance and maintain its reputation as a world leader in eye care which you will be expected to maximise.
This will involve developing and maintaining key relationships throughout the organisation to ensure a steady stream of good news stories about Moorfields’ work for dissemination to the media and other external stakeholders, enhancing and maintaining its reputation.
In this role you will:
Implement, with the senior external communications manager, an external communications strategy to ensure that service innovations and research breakthroughs are fully recognised.
Develop strong relationships with key stakeholders both internally and externally to ensure early removal of barriers to our plans and foster community engagement where appropriate, sometimes in a hostile climate.
Work in partnership with the internal communications officer, senior communications manager (strategic programmes) and digital media officer to implement integrated communications across our range of channels and ensure that staff are informed first about important announcements.
Ensure a responsive, efficient and friendly service to staff, the media, government departments, national and local politicians, foundation trust members and other external stakeholders contacting the team for support with external communications.
Forge strong links between the communications team and the directorates to ensure a steady stream of ‘good news’ stories about both our NHS and private services.
What we need from you:
- A strong experience in administration
- Experience of proactive and reactive media work
- Knowledge of media and PR techniques
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
