There is a busy, well-established Gastroenterology service at Kingston Hospital with an excellent reputation amongst referring GPs. The department has established successful specialist expertise including wireless capsule endoscopy which attracts referrals from neighbouring hospitals, a GI physiology service, a hydrogen breath test service and a busy viral hepatitis treatment programme which has nurse support. The department actively supports the hospital’s nutrition team.
Bank Partners has a fantastic opportunity available for a Gastro Consultant and Physician at Kingston Hospital with a three month contract to start as soon as possible.
The post holder is expected to provide a first class service in gastroenterology supported by junior medical staff. The post holder will undertake outpatient clinics (and supervise registrar and SHO clinics) and endoscopy sessions mainly at Kingston Hospital but also at other sites in the locality as service demands require. The post holder will work closely with other medical and surgical colleagues to provide a seamless service especially for cancer patients and patients referred under the cancer access targets.
The post holder will be expected to participate in the GI bleed rota and weekend working. Currently there is no formalised outline for
Job planning will be based on a partnership approach. The clinical manager will prepare a draft job plan, which will then be discussed and agreed with the consultant. Job plans will list all the NHS duties of the consultant, the number of programmed activities for which the consultant is contracted and paid, the consultant’s objectives and agreed supporting resources.
The duties and responsibilities set out in a Job Plan will include, as appropriate

- Supporting Professional Activities
- Additional NHS responsibilities
- External Duties
the 7 day working so may be scope for post holder to contribute to outline.
